Yes, we all do! I think it’s human nature. Especially when you don’t know your purpose.
A few weeks ago my husband’s family had a reunion. We spent the whole day swimming and playing silly games for the hope of winning a trophy! The trophies were decorated by my daughter, cousin Stacie and myself. We tried to make them as ugly as possible.
Anyway, towards the end of the day one of Bobby’s cousin’s wanted to take a picture with all the cousins. She said “Heidi – Come get in the picture!” I said okay and then quickly realized I was not an “official” blood cousin and thought I shouldn’t be in the picture. Trisha said “no, this is my picture and I want you in it!”
I felt so special.
I always feel like I belong to Bobby’s family, but this was really cool. It’s amazing how the simple act of wanting someone in your family picture can mean so much… like I belonged… like I mattered.
Now… I know we all have times like this in our life where we are not sure where we fit in. We go around thinking that this person is so lucky or that person has the best life.
My wise friend once told me DON’T COMPARE!
Your job is to find your passion and what speaks to you! God has given us all gifts and talents. It’s our job to unleash those creative gifts or talents and share them with the world.
What do you love doing!!!?? What makes you excited to get up in the morning!!?
Anyway, my point is: If you don’t feel like you belong then maybe you have that feeling for a reason. Maybe it’s not your gift or talent! Find something that makes you feel like you belong!
Oh, and having an awesome cousin (hey Trisha! – Love ya!) doesn’t hurt either!
