It’s finally time for Ceramics and these awesome Wood Sleds! I had been getting messages like “When are you going to sell the wood sled?” So, we put them on sale and they SOLD OUT within 24 HOURS!!!!

What did they get?

In every order there were 2 wood sleds, one with a Snowman and another with the Winter Scene. The best part? They all have the art pre-drawn and ready to paint plus step-by-step instructions and paint.

Today I’m going to show you how to paint the O’ Holy Night Christmas Scene wood sled. Here’s the best part of the pre etched sleds, you can paint over the lines and still see them! So, we are going to paint the background first.

Paint Your Background First

Using a darker navy blue and a chip brush I paint right over the O’ Holy Night. Then grab the pewter paint and paint over the top of trees making sure you blend it with the darker navy blue. Add a little of the navy blue to the bottom of the sled. You’ll also paint the top and side pieces as well. Using a chip brush and some white paint just paint your snow directly over the navy on the bottom.

Add Your Trees and Words

Using a dark green paint and a round brush just paint your trees using the pre-drawn trees as a guide. While the trees are drying grab a linter brush and some white paint and start filling in the words “O’Holy Night”. And, yes! You will still be able to see the lines. Use the same brush and paint to paint your star.

Add Details to Your Wood Sled

We are going to make these trees look real! Using a chip brush and some black paint just dab on your trees to add some texture. You can go back to the dark green paint as well just give it some texture. You can make them look more realistic, this is really just a template. On the larger tree I added some white, just to make it really stand out! I even added to some gold dots so there were ornaments on the tree.

There are so many cool things you can do with these sleds. You can use it as décor on your mantle or fireplace hearth. Or, just hang it on your door! You can even add it to a wreath.
